Alpine Canada Alpin is pleased to announce its Canadian Masters Alpine Team (CMAT) for 2008-2009. Candidates were selected among hundreds of national competitors over 18 years of age who were required to participate in a minimum of 5 races including 2 at Stoneham or Sun Peaks. The following team members earned the lowest National points or the highest World Cup points in their respective age categories.

Eligibility

Qualification - Participation Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 starts in National Points Masters Races as scheduled on the 2008-2009 Canadian Masters Competition Calendar
  • Of the 5 starts, a minimum of 2 starts must occur at any of the following qualifying races: Coupe Luc Balit, Ontario Championships, Rides of March or Canadian Masters Championships.
  • Of the 5 starts, a minimum of 2 starts must occur in any National Points Masters Race outside the racers home province. This can include a qualifying race, if it is outside his/her home province. Home province is defined as per a racers competitor card registration.

Selection - Performance Criteria

  • " Two racers who meet the participation criteria will be selected from each female and male age group; 18-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 +. One female racer and one male racer will be selected from the West Region and one female and one male racer will be selected from the East Region. The division between West and East is the border of Manitoba and Ontario.
  • " The CMAT winner for each age group, male and female, in each Region will be selected based on the highest World Cup points total based on the following criteria:
    o The winner will be determined by the total score of the racers' best 7 results. Per the Selection Criteria, a minimum of 5 starts is required to qualify; however the best 7 race results will be used in the Performance Criteria. In the event of a tie then the racer with the lowest National Points will be selected.
  • Racers may collect points in either Region in any National Points Masters Race; all points collected will count towards a racer's point total in their home Region.
  • World Cup Points – 1st-100 points, 2nd-80, 3d-60, 4th-50, 5th-45, 6th-40, 7th-36, etc.
  • National Points = best GS result + best SL + best other [DH, SG, GS, SL] result.

Selection Process

The Committee will issue a CMAT Nominations Preview based on the mid-April National Points and World Cup Points lists. Qualified competitors will be listed by gender, by age group and ranked by points as outlined in Performance Criteria. Selection Committee members will validate the list and qualifying competitors will be named to the CMAT.
